Roland Corbin (b. 1978, Edinburgh, UK) takes artistic inspiration from the natural world, finding beauty and symmetry in the animal and plant kingdoms. His technical ability and dedication to detail bring the expressive elements and character of his subjects to life.
In 2000, Roland achieved a BA (1st Class Hons) in Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art and was awarded The Catriona White Prize. After winning the John Kinross Scholarship from the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) he then went on to spend four months drawing and painting in Florence where the light and colour left an indelible impression. A New York Academy of Arts Merit Scholarship was awarded on his masters course in America. In 2009, he was awarded The Morton Fraser Award, Visual Arts Scotland. Roland has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions including: The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, London and the Royal Institute in Painters in Watercolour Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London and has twice contributed to The Elephant Family. Roland’s work features in numerous private collections worldwide including Hong Kong, New Zealand, Montenegro, U.S and the U.K. Roland lives and works in London.
