Camilla Jane Gittins

Camilla is a Welsh Fine Artist living in Amsterdam. She received a BA (hons) in Embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2009. Since graduating she has worked for Jack Wills and Tommy Hilfiger as a Creative Concept Designer, you will also find her original paintings in many Tommy Hilfiger stores around the globe. She is now a full time artist since May 2019.

Camilla makes contemporary abstract paintings, her work is characterised by multiple layers created with a variety of opaque and transparent mediums. She uses a bold colour palette, carefully balancing her more dominating, dense layers with her very important areas of negative space. Her paintings are complete after she applies her signature scribbles made with a sewing needle or heavy weight graphite pencil.

Camilla is heavily inspired by Land, Sea and Sky. She is fascinated by all the natural layers and how all 3 portions interact with one another and sometimes appear as one. Her next body of work will be inspired by her travels around Scandinavia.
