Louise Morgan has been a professional artists for 3 years, running Galeri 45 in Bangor-North Wales where she exhibits her own work alongside established or emerging artists from the local area.
Elected to the Royal Cambrian Academy, Louise has also exhibited in several group shows, including The Kyffin Williams drawing prize 2015 and currently has work in The Mostyn Gallery LLandudno.
Working primarily from plein aire and memory, Louise is compelled to capture light and movement in the landscape. The constantly changing weather conditions in Gwynedd and Snowdonia, mean that she has to work rapidly, predominantly painting with palette knives outside and finishing the final piece in the studio, wiping areas out or defining certain areas by scraping off paint.
The resulting artwork has texture due to thin and thickly painted effects and highly contrasting luminescent areas, giving the work a sense of immediacy.
Louise aims to convey to the viewer the elemental rhythms of the natural landscape, that we are increasingly divorced from in our modern lifestyles.
