Following a degree course in three-dimensional design, Jill Desborough has worked as a commercial sculptor and modelmaker across a number of diverse areas that include museum and heritage, fine art, theatre, advertising and giftware.
Parallel to her career Jill has maintained her own personal sculpting, printmaking and puppet-creating practice which she has exhibited at various galleries and submission shows across the country. These shows include the likes of the RWA in Bristol and The Society of Women Artists.
Jill’s body of work is reflective of her attraction to the theatrical and bizarre, her own imagination and literary works such as Mervyn Peake’s writing. As Jill states, her practice “celebrates the idiosyncrasies and sometimes the darker reaches of what makes us human”.
